The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) was founded in 1925 and is the largest University in Greece, with 11 Faculties and 41 Departments.
The mission of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is to offer a high level of education, in an environmentally friendly University that is accessible to all, to produce internationally recognized research and to contribute to the economic and social development of the country. Its vision is to be an excellent public University with international radiation, primarily at the service of Greek society and the education of Greek citizens and especially the young generation.
The characteristic feature of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki that differentiates it from the rest of the Greek Universities and constitutes its competitive advantage is its multidisciplinary nature, since it covers the entire range of sciences and arts. This special feature of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, combined with the quality of its research and educational work, favors synergies and interdisciplinary cooperation. in both education and research, and creates the right conditions for the cultivation of the required skills in students. At the same time, it favors an environment suitable for the development of innovative research collaborations.
The recognition of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in international evaluations has been particularly high over time and ranks it first among Greek universities in many fields of science and in a prominent position among many universities abroad. It is among the 400-500 best universities in the world and indicatively mentions the firsts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Classical Studies and Archaeology, Engineering Sciences, Computers, Telecommunications and Agriculture. The high quality of the work produced at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki results in the existence of many international collaborations and agreements with Universities abroad and the successful careers of its graduates in Greece and abroad.
There are 43 Undergraduate Programs and more than 200 Postgraduate Programs at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
It has more than 40,000 active undergraduates, 10,000 postgraduate students and 4,500 doctoral candidates.
The academic staff of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki amounts to approximately 1600 faculty members, 600 members of Teaching and Laboratory staff and 550 members of administrative staff.
The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has more than 30 academic and research units, covering a large part of its activities, such as: the School of Modern Greek Language, the Center for Byzantine Research, the Confucius Institute, the Unesco Center for Water Management, the Unesco Chair for Human Rights, the Interdisciplinary Center for Aristotelian Studies, the Center for Agri-Food, the Center for Biomedical Research, the Cast Museum, the Aristotle Museum of Natural History and many more.
In addition to the training of young scientists, the mission of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is to conduct basic and applied research, aiming at the development of innovative products and services in a wide range of scientific directions.
The management of the research Programs is carried out by the Special Account for Research Funds (ELKE), while since 2015 the Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation (KEDEK) has been operating, through which new and more effective structures of interdisciplinary cooperation are formed. KEDEC is housed in two privately owned buildings in the area of Thermi.
As far as we know, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is the largest research organization in the country, with a remarkably high number of young researchers (over 3,000 people), who participate annually in its research projects.
The facilities of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki are mainly located on the campus, in the center of the city of Thessaloniki. At the same time, educational and research activities are carried out at the premises of Thermi, for the Departments of Visual and Applied Arts, Music Studies and Science of Physical Education and Sports, at the Farm for the Department of Agriculture, in Finikas, in Pertouli, Trikala and in Taxiarchis of Halkidiki for the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment, in the western area of the city, for the Department of Cinema and the Veterinary Clinics, whose units are also based in Lagada, in Serres for the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science, while university excavations are being carried out in many parts of Greece
On the main Campus are the Library and Information Center of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, one of the largest in the Balkans,
the Student Club (which provides about 7000 meals per day) and the Student Residences,
and all our student support units,
that support their mobility, through European Programs and bilateral International Relations agreements, the provision of scholarships through the Departments of Studies and Endowments, for further studies and employment, through the Internship and Liaison Offices.
At the same time, since 1997, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki places particular emphasis on the support of students of sensitive social groups, having institutionalized Committees and Offices of Social Policy and Health, Accessibility, Counseling and Psychological Support.
The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki provides its students with opportunities to participate in international student associations and organizations, in cultural and social activities through the Office for the Coordination of Voluntary Actions and, of course, for exercise, at the University Gymnasium and Swimming Pool, and entertainment in the summer at the University Camp, in Kalandra, Halkidiki. It is worth mentioning that the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has a Temple and a place of prayerand for its Muslim students, and indeed in the area of the Theological School.
The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is a Greek University with an international reach, with the largest number of incoming and outgoing students, participation in 70 international networks, 180 international agreements, Branch of the School of Modern Greek Language in America, Headquarters of the SDSN Network for Sustainable Development in the Black Sea countries and EPICUR, the new European University.
A decisive factor in the fact that the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is among the pioneering Universities of the country and Europe is the highest level of its information systems and digital services to students and all its members, as well as the know-how in the management of research and all quality data, with the coordination of the Center for E-Government, of ELKE and MODIP.
All of the above are achieved, because the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki operates over time oriented to high quality in all areas of its activity.

The competent service for ensuring and adhering to the procedures for evaluating the quality of the services offered is the Quality Assurance Unit. In particular, the MODIP has the responsibility for ensuring the procedures that achieve a high level of quality services to its students, its human resources, as well as to the wider society, and overall for the monitoring of the operation of the Institution's Internal Quality Assurance System.
