In each Higher Education Institution (HEI), an administrative structure is established, the level and administrative structure of which are determined in the Organization of the Institution, called the “Quality Assurance Unit” (QAU). The QAU is functionally independent from the other organizational units and is supervised by the Rector or the competent Vice-Rector, to whom the relevant responsibility has been assigned.
The mission of the QAU is the continuous improvement of the quality of the educational and research work of the Institution, as well as the effective operation and performance of its services, in accordance with international practices, in particular the European Higher Education Area, and the guidelines of the National Higher Education Authority (HΑΗE).
The MODIP is structured internally by:
a) the Quality Assurance Committee and
b) the Quality Assurance Service.
- Quality Assurance Committee

The Quality Assurance Committee is established by decision of the Senate and consists of:
a) the Rector or the competent Vice-Rector of the AEI,
b) five (5) members of the Teaching and Research Staff (T.E.P.) of the AEI. of the rank of Professor or Associate Professor,
c) one (1) representative from each category of members of the Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP), Special Educational Staff (EEP) and Special Technical Laboratory Staff (ETEP) of the AEI,
d) one (1) representative of undergraduate students,
e) one (1) representative of postgraduate students and doctoral candidates, and
f) one (1) representative from the Visiting Professors, assigned lecturers, Visiting Researchers and Contract Researchers employed at the AEI.The term of office of the Committee is five years.
The representatives of the categories d) to f) are nominated on an annual basis and have the right to vote on issues related to their status.
The Head of the MO.DIP. and the Executive Director of the A.E.I. participate in the meetings of the Committee without the right to vote.The responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Committee are:
a) the drafting of a proposal for the structure and operation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (ESDP) and its submission to the Senate for approval and publication in the Government Gazette, b) the development of a policy and strategy for the assurance and improvement of quality in any kind of teaching, research and administrative work offered by the University and in particular for quality,
ba) first, second and third cycle curricula, including foreign language curricula,bb) lifelong learning programs and in general the quality of operation of the Centre, Training and Lifelong Learning (KEDIVIM) of the University,bc) the individual academic units of the University, Faculties, Departments and Sectors,
bd) the quality of operation of the Special Account for Research Funds of the University, as well as of the University Centre for Research and Innovation (PAKEK) and its Research Institutes (HEIs);
b) the quality of operation of the individual academic or research units, such as university clinics, university museums and university laboratories, including the provision of services by them;
bf) the quality of operation of the administrative services of the HEI; c) the updating of the EDP, at least every five (5) years, with the aim of its continuous improvement, in accordance with the developments in the European Higher Education Area, the international practices and the guidelines of the HEAEA; e) the preparation of a Quality Manual of the EDP and its submission for approval to the Senate of the HEI; d) the periodic internal evaluation and review of the EDP, e) the cooperation with the HAEAE for the implementation of its guidelines and directives within the framework of its responsibilities, g) the exercise of any other competence assigned to the Quality Assurance Committee by the Internal Rules of Operation of the HEI.Chair:

- Quality Assurance Service

The Quality Assurance Service is staffed by administrative staff of the HEI and is headed by an HEI employee, of a specialty or sector, specified in the HEI Organization.
The responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Service are:
a) the execution of decisions and the secretarial support of the Quality Assurance Committee,
b) the submission of recommendations to the Committee and the preparation of materials for making relevant decisions,
c) the cooperation with the HAHE and the support of the internal and external evaluation and certification procedures of the HEI, its individual academic and research units and the study programmes of the first, second and third cycle, including foreign language curricula and cooperation programs, lifelong learning programs according to Law 4653/2020 (A' 12),
d) the development, management and monitoring of the HEI's IQAS and in particular the implementation of the internal evaluation according to the quality manual of the IQAS,
e) the coordination and support of the procedures of the HEI and its individual units in the implementation of quality assurance,
f) the collection and processing of data from all academic and research units, as well as the administrative services of the HEI concerning the implementation of quality assurance of all the activities of the HEI;
g) the publication on the institution's website of the data on the certification, internal and external evaluation of the HEI and its individual units;
h) the responsibility for the completion of the values of the indicators in the context of the preparation of the annual achievement report for the allocation of the annual regular grant of the University, in accordance with article 16 of Law 4653/2020,
i) the responsibility for updating the information system of the QAU, as well as the Integrated National Quality Information System (OPESP) of the HAHE with the quality data of the Institution and the development of interoperability with it;
j) the exercise of any other competence specified in the Organization of the University and related to the subject matter of the QAU.Head:
