Article 1. Purpose and scope of the Internal Quality Assurance System (ESDP) of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

1. The purpose of the Internal Quality Assurance System (EDP)  is to ensure high quality and efficiency in the operation and performance of the Institution's services and to continuously improve its educational and research work, in accordance with international practices, in particular those of the European Higher Education Area, and the principles and guidelines of the National Authority for Higher Education (HEAEA).

2. The scope of the Internal Quality Assurance System includes first, second and third cycle study programmes (including foreign language study programmes), lifelong learning programmes and in general the quality of operation of the Training and Lifelong Learning Centre of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the individual academic units of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Faculties, Departments and Sectors), the quality of operation of the Special Account for Research Funds of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,  as well as the University Center for Research and Innovation of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Research Institutes (E.I.), the quality of operation of individual academic or research units (e.g. university clinics, university museums and university laboratories), the quality of operation of the administrative services of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

3. For the management and assurance of quality, as well as for the definition and implementation of the ESDP, the Administration of the Foundation shall contribute:
I) The harmonization of the quality policy with the broader strategic objectives of the Institution, both at an academic and administrative level.
II) To ensure the necessary resources for the implementation of the quality policy and the operation of the ESDP.
III) Monitoring the implementation of the quality and operation objectives of the ESDP through annual reviews and taking measures.
IV) The dissemination and communication of the quality policy and issues of the E.S.D.P. to the staff of the Institution as well as to all academic, research and administrative units and levels, with regular informative meetings and discussions with the staff and heads of the units and the participation of students and the collection of proposals for possible improvements or good practices
V) Making decisions regarding the continuous improvement of the quality of the Institution's educational, research and administrative work.
VI) The staffing of the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP) with competent personnel, the creation and maintenance of the appropriate environment for efficient work of the staff and its systematic development through evaluation and training.
